SAE FORMULA ELECTRIC

Role: Powertrain Subsystem Lead

My primary responsibility as Powertrain Lead was to make sure the powertrain subsystem was designed and built correctly & on-time. But make no mistake, despite my leadership role I did a lot of the detailed design, analysis, and testing too!

HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE

Role: Team Captain

As captain of a small team I had opportunities to do plenty of design in addition to my leadership role. Responsibilities included managing others, advocating for school funding, and both overseeing and performing design, manufacturing, and testing.

SENIOR CAPSTONE

Role: Electromechanical Designer

My team of 4 senior mechanical engineering students designed a high-precision bearing assembly machine for a real corporate client. I designed a significant number of mechanical parts and most of the electrical system.

ROBOTICS

Role: Team Captain & Consultant

In high school I designed competitive robots under the mentorship of NASA engineers, who taught me CAD, mechanical design, programming, manufacturing techniques, leadership, and circuitry. In college I consulted an intercollegiate robotics team.

SELF-BALANCING ROBOT

Role: Mechatronics Student

The final project of a challenging course with a 50% pass rate. Design a unique cover for a 2-wheeled robot to give it a unique center-of-gravity, derive controls equations taking into account mechanical and electrical principals, then use LQR control to implement self-balancing even against a mild push.

INTERNSHIPS AND FULL-TIME

Role: Mechanical Engineer

Interned at Knorr Brake Company and KIBART Engineering Inc. during two college summers.

 

Worked full-time for Hexagon Composites designing machinery and composite parts for multiple industries.

PASSION PROJECTS

Role: Just being me

To retain my skills between jobs, I do car projects a little differently. Thermodynamic analysis, custom electronics, plotting test results, and designing 3D printed parts on top of your typical car-enthusiast mods & repairs.
